Ukraine crisis shows a sovereign S'pore at peace is no small thing

I've only known an independent Singapore - and peace. Now I see I might have taken both for granted.

These days, when I walk around Toa Payoh where I live, I see the contrast between the life we enjoy and the devastation from war in Ukraine.

I find it hard to read stories bearing headlines like this one: "Shattered buildings tower over uncollected corpses in Ukraine's Mariupol".
