After a protracted succession plan that spanned over five years, lots of speculation with other names thrown into the ring, and the delays caused by a pandemic, the final phase of appointing a new prime minister will take just 30 days.

On April 15, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said he would hand over the reins of government to current Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on May 15.
