WASHINGTON – On TikTok, there exists a whole genre of shopping “haul” posts, where Gen Z influencers try on clothing and other purchases, and tell followers whether they will keep or return the items.

The hauls, typically worth hundreds of dollars, can be ridiculously large – some videos show packages spilling out of the influencers’ arms or covering an entire bedroom floor.
