Some time in the middle of December I was working from home, finishing up a late shift, when a loud and persistent beeping shattered the quiet of the night.

Looking out the window I saw a line of low-bed trucks laden with building materials. It was around 10pm, but they were waiting to offload their cargo at the condominium construction site across the road.
