The Indonesian stock market leapt on Feb 15 after quick count results indicated that Mr Prabowo Subianto was headed for a decisive victory in the presidential election. It was a telling signal from the markets of the power of outgoing President Joko Widodo’s economic legacy – and expectations that Mr Prabowo as the “continuity candidate” will pursue more of the same approach.

But will he? Can he?
