While the electric motor is a relatively simple assembly, the control of energy supply from the battery is immensely complex.

The battery management system monitors the state of charge and state of health of every single cell in the battery. Meanwhile, a power inverter controls the motor speed and, hence, its power output. These are in addition to the thermal management system, on-board charger and DC-DC converter.
