SINGAPORE – As Singapore’s war against high salt consumption continues, statistics are often trotted out.
Most people need just 2,000mg of sodium a day to function and this translates to one teaspoon of table salt. Yet, nine in 10 people in Singapore, according to the Health Promotion Board’s (HPB) 2022 National Nutrition Survey, are averaging almost twice that – 3,620mg of sodium – a day.
