The UOB website, at this point of writing, still has Mr Wee Cho Yaw as its chairman emeritus even though he died in early February 2024 at the age of 95.

His influence loomed large and while he was no longer on the bank’s board before his death, he was still chairman at listed property and hospitality player UOL, which owns Pan Pacific Hotels and other assets.
