TOKYO - Japan is playing catch-up with Singapore when it comes to integrated resorts (IRs), finally giving the green light in April for a development in Osaka after a bumpy 20 years, with a formula straight out of the Republic’s playbook.

The impact of IRs on Singapore tourism has not gone unnoticed in Japan, as the Pacific nation places its bet on hitting the jackpot.
